
Birmingham native Bradford Kachelhofer is the regular
geek and the female principal of The Modern Brand
Company. She can usually be found correcting someone’s
grammar or generally being a smarty pants. Brad
graduated from Randolph-Macon Woman’s College
in Lynchburg, Virginia, with a degree in Creative Writing.
She worked at Southern Progress Corporation for more
than a decade writing, editing, styling, and producing
stories and television segments for Southern Living
magazine and a large variety of Special Interest
Publications and Custom Publications. She then worked
at Big Communications for three years as Production
Manager, winning Birmingham Ad Fed’s Production
Manager of the Year in 2007.
Brad specializes in copy writing, project coordination,
budgeting, and strategic planning. When she’s not doing
whatever Shawn and Michael aren’t doing, you can find
her watching British murder mysteries with her dog Dr.
Buddy Love and knitting up something fancy.

Shawn is the art geek who brings creative concepts to life
for The Modern Brand Co. Originally from Columbus,
Ohio, he has almost a dozen years of experience in the
graphic design world and is passionate about his craft.
Shawn has spent many hours in continuing education
classes and seminars so that he can continue to provide
the latest, design tools and skills to The Modern Brand Co.
Shawn earned his degree in graphic design from Samford
University. He has worked at notable agencies in the
Birmingham area including Elements and Big
Communications. Most recently, Shawn served as the
Senior Art Director at Big Communications. While there,
his work was recognized with several ADDY awards.
Shawn has experience in almost every medium of graphic
design, but retains a special place in his heart for logo
design. He has worked with numerous clients large and
small such as ESPN, McWane Science Center, The
Birmingham Airport Authority, Colonial Brookwood
Village, and Sidewalk Film Festival.
When he is not creating commercial art, Shawn tries to
stay involved in the Birmingham community through
volunteering time on various boards and festivals. Shawn
also likes to express himself on stage in the local theatre.

Originally from Memphis, TN, Michael is the business
school geek of The Modern Brand Co. He can usually be
found reading his Business Journal and contemplating
things like “ideal brand positioning” and “maximum return
on investment”. After earning a degree in Business
Administration from Samford University, Michael worked
in the marketing department at the Bruno Event Team for
three years and served as the Director of Client Services
for Big Communications for four years. In 2006, Michael
was named the Account Executive of the Year by the
Birmingham Advertising Federation.
Michael specializes in marketing strategy, annual planning,
brand building, and sponsorship negotiations.
When he is not building brands, you will probably find
Michael shopping for the latest fashions, on the golf course,
or working hard in the gym.
